Disney Parks, Volunteer Canada and Junior Achievement of Manitoba Look to Inspire New Volunteers During Disney Parks "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" Program

WINNIPEG MB [January 5, 2010] - In celebration of the first-of-its-kind Disney Parks' campaign, "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day", Junior Achievement of Manitoba is encouraging volunteers to donate time through the delivery of business programs to school students throughout Manitoba.

As of January 1, 2010 Disney Parks commemorated the volunteer spirit with a free one-day admission ticket to a Walt Disney World Resort in Florida or Disneyland Resort in California theme park to the first 1 million people who volunteer a day of their time. Volunteer Canada, an international partner of HandsOn Network, helped bring this campaign to Canada. Working with agencies and volunteer centers in cities across the country, hundreds of volunteers are encouraged to donate their time to organizations such as Junior Achievement of Manitoba.

"Volunteers are invaluable to Junior Achievement of Manitoba”, says Lisa Cefali, CEO & President of Junior Achievement of Manitoba. "Our programs would not be possible without the support of volunteers. Through their efforts, they make a positive impact on youth, exposing their potential and giving perspective on personal success.”

Volunteers are always needed to deliver JA programs to students from grades 3 – 12. Volunteers will not only gain free admission to a Disney Park, but will also experience the benefits of making a difference in a student’s life. Through JA programs, young Manitobans are inspired to explore the world of business, economics and free enterprise. Students also develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills.

Beyond these events, Volunteer Canada and HandsOn Network, the volunteer-focused arm of Points of Light Institute and the largest volunteer network in the United States, will provide other "family-friendly" volunteer activities for those wishing to participate in the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" campaign. Starting January 1, 2010, guests can go to www.DisneyParks.ca to search for volunteer opportunities in their area.
