Winnipeg MB [June 4, 2010] - Junior Achievement of Manitoba (JA) is hosting its 47th annual Futures Unlimited Banquet on Thursday, June 10, 2010. It will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Delta Winnipeg; 350 St. Mary Avenue, with key-note speaker Olympic curler Jill Officer. The event recognizes the excellence demonstrated by youth participants and volunteers in the Junior Achievement Company Program – A Student Venture.

Olympic curler Jill Officer will be the key-note speaker at the event. Jill Officer has been competing in curling for 23 years and has won many competitions. She is a 2008 Women’s World Champion, a three-time Canadian Champion, and a seven-time Provincial Champion.

Lauren Checkley, Company Program Manager said, "The Junior Achievement Company Program gives students the opportunity to work towards improving their skills going into the workforce. This awards banquet recognizes their commitment, responsibility to their peers, and personal growth along the way. It ensures the positive reinforcement students need to motivate themselves to continue to go above and beyond".

The Junior Achievement Company Program - A Student Venture is a program that enables students to operate their own company with the help of volunteer business consultants. Through the program, students design, organize and operate a real business, and experience how a small enterprise functions. These new entrepreneurs work within the structure of our Canadian economic system and realize the benefits it provides. Company Program - A Student Venture offers new possibilities for the next generation of successful start-ups.

Tickets for the Futures Unlimited Banquet are $75 each. Seating starts at 6:00pm, dinner is served at 7:00pm, and the awards ceremony begins at 8:00pm.

Junior Achievement of Manitoba is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire and educate young Canadians to experience free enterprise, understand business and economics, and develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills.
